I support mommies through their journey into motherhood. I am a Certified Labor Doula through CAPPA.
My services include:
1 - Free Initial Consultation This meeting allows us the opportunity to get to know each other. This is a great way to make sure we will be the perfect fit. At this meeting we will go over your questions about doulas, discuss my doula style, and your ideal birth. At this time I will provide letters of recommendation and I will give you my contract to take home to read.
2 - Prenatal Visits At these two meetings I will provide researched articles to offer you options for your birthing experience. We will design a birth plan and go over any fears or concerns you may be having about your birth. We will go through optimal fetal positioning, touch on a variety of birthing positions, comfort and relaxation techniques. These meetings will also provide us the opportunity to get to know one another more intimately so you are completely comfortable and relaxed during your baby's grand debut.
Available 24 Hours A Day 7 Days A Week - starting at 2 weeks before your EDD - One benefit and comfort in hiring a doula is that doulas work for you and are here for mommies on physical, emotional and spiritual levels. I know there are moments, sometimes in the middle of the night, that a fear may emerge and you need to talk through it with a loving support person, please call me.
Labor & Birth Support I will either meet you at your home to labor for awhile or meet you at the hospital or birth center. I will stay with you throughout your laboring up until baby is 2 hours old.
Back-Up Doula On the rare occasion I am not available when you go into labor, I do have a back-up doula who you can meet. You will never be left unattended.
Introduction To Breastfeeding I have taken breastfeeding courses and have successfully breastfed three of my own babies. I will stay with you to help establish breastfeeding and answer some of your basic questions, concerns and give tips for success at breastfeeding.
Photography I do take photos for you throughout your laboring and birthing moment. I am happy to take photos with your camera or with my digital camera. I will forward the pictures to you via email. At that time the photos are yours to enjoy the moment you brought new life into the world.
1-2 Postnatal Visits I will meet with you within a week of baby's birth for a 1 hour postnatal visit. This is a great time for you to share your birth story with me. We will go through your experience together and go over any questions you may have relating to the birth experience. I will also be happy to answer any basic new born care questions you may have as well.
A Birth Story I do provide a written detailed story of your baby's birth. This is a lovely keepsake to have for your baby book.
A Night Out I believe in the sanctity of family. I know how important it is for mom and her partner to have a dinner out. When your baby is 5 weeks old, I will come to your home and babysit for 3 hours so you can have a quick dinner getaway.
Transitioning From Hospital to Home Services: (This service is separate from labor and birth doula services and may be added on to your labor/birth package or purchased separately)
Many families need help transitioning from home to hospital. This need may arise from simply having your first baby and being uncertain about going home by yourself or for those mamas who have an expected or unexpected cesarean.
How It Works - Shortly after the birth of your baby, call Colorado Family Doula, LLC., give us the day and time you will be discharged from the hospital, fax us your discharge paperwork, and we will meet you at your home to help you settle in to your nest.
We will come to your home immediately following your return from the hospital for approximately six hours and assist with the following: Go over your discharge papers, set up an area in your home that will be your resting sanctuary for two weeks, listen to your birth story, help with basic breastfeeding initiation, prepare you and your partner a meal, light house cleaning (dishes, baby laundry, and vacuuming) and watch baby while mama and partner take a nap.
A Family - A Community Colorado Family Doula, LLC is a family. I believe in loving and supporting moms and their partner throughout their journey of parenthood. I do hostess a variety of events throughout the year that include a mom's night out with other Colorado Family Doula moms and events that include the entire family.
I am educated in HypnoBirthing and the Bradley Method and have used the HypnoBirthing method. I support mommies in their choice birthing method. I support natural births, medicated births, hospital births, birth center births, and home births.
